I have watched eight cheesy Christmas movies and learned a lot about getting into the Christmas spirit. I will share a few things I learned while watching these movies to help you fully embrace the Christmas season.

One of the things that put these movies in the cheesy category is the love story, but I’m going to ignore that and focus on the cheesy Christmas stuff. Here are five things you can do to immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit.
Step One: The setting

A small town is the most popular setting for a cheesy Christmas movie. You must return to your small hometown if you live in the city. If you don’t have a small town to return to, travel to one in another state or another country.
From Travel & Leisure, 10 European-style Christmas Markets in the U.S.
Once you’ve arrived in the small town, you must visit a Christmas market or fair and participate in a local event or activity. Christmas pageants, jamborees, or galas are preferred.
Step Two: Decorate

Decorate everything, your office, your home, even your car. You must have at least two Christmas trees at home. Bust out the garland, tinsel, small-town setups, and gnomes, and leave no Christmas decorations in storage.
Don’t have enough decor? No problem; enter any retail establishment to find Christmas decorations for sale.

To truly live in a cheesy Christmas movie, it must feel like Buddy the Elf has decorated your living space in preparation for Santa’s arrival.
If you want to dine at a restaurant that would exist in a Christmas movie, visit The Venetian in Weymouth. They have a holiday popup until January 31st.

You can also stay in a hotel room with all the decorations. From EW, See Hilton’s dazzling holiday suites inspired by Hallmark Channel’s new Christmas movies
Step Three: Christmas Activities and Outfits

Bake and eat Christmas cookies and desserts: Pull out your holiday recipes. Bake all the cookies dressed in your Christmas-themed apron. Don’t feel like baking? Visit a local bakery that sells “the best holiday treats.”
Drink hot beverages: You must always have a hot beverage in your hand. Hot chocolate or a Christmas-themed drink should be your top two choices. Sip Starbucks holiday drinks: Menu

Decorate your tree: Make it a fun event with family and friends. Be sure to discuss where you got the ornaments from.

Participate in holiday traditions: Get ready for family game night, a PJ party, or whatever you do every year with your family.

Wear anything holiday related: Sweaters, scarves, hats, and PJs.
Don’t feel like dressing up yet? A back up outfit includes a wool coat, a scarf, gloves, and a hat.

Step Four: Play in the snow or on the ice

This step might be difficult for those in warmer climates, but you can always purchase snow in a can, fake snow, and fake snowballs. Or visit an indoor ice rink.
If you get snow, you must build a snowman, have a snowball fight, and go sledding.
Step Five: Visit Santa

Santa will be available in malls and at events very soon. Be sure to tell him your Christmas wish.
