“What’s in the box?” David Mills, Se7en
Hi! Happy New Year! Welcome to my blog and my updated newsletter. I’ve retired Five on Friday. I will no longer be posting every week. Volume four of my newsletter will be published once a month. At the beginning of the month, I will write notes on fashion, movies, series, and other lifestyle topics. I will publish blog posts on fashion and lifestyle trends during the month when I find an interesting topic, or have updates to share.

Notes on Events
The Golden Globes are airing tonight! I apologize for the late notice.
The Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5th. Airing live on CBS at 8 PM, stream on CBS+ or Paramount+ with a premium subscription. Comedian Nikki Glaser is the host. Read: How to Watch the Golden Globes 2025: Date, Time and Streaming
Why it’s noteworthy:

Award shows entertain me. Have you ever practiced accepting an award like Rachel on The One With Joey’s Award? No, just me and Phoebe? That’s okay; there are other things to enjoy besides the acceptance speeches. The fashion and the mingling of the celebrities are also fun to see. If there is a good host, there will be some funny jokes and bits.
People in the entertainment industry work hard to create movies and series. The award shows recognize outstanding performances, directing, writing, and songwriting. If I enjoy watching a specific movie or series, I root for it while watching. I also like to predict who will win.
The Nominations
Jacques Audiard’s narco musical “Emilia Pérez,” leads the Golden Globes film nominees with 10 overall. (Stream on Netflix) See the full list: NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR 82nd ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES®. From the Boston Globe: 2025 Golden Globes: Where to stream some of this year’s top nominees
Notes on Fashion:

Update your quarter-zip or half-zip sweatshirt or sweater:
The inspiration for this topic came from The Wall Street Journal: Hey Finance Bros: Your Quarter-Zip Looks Terrible. We Have Upgrades. You need a subscription to the WSJ to read the article. The gist: look at the fit of your half-zip, it shouldn’t be too tight. “Loosen the fit. Nyong said he is begging his colleague to buy sweaters that don’t cling across the chest and stomach. He likes designs with dropped shoulders that feel slightly roomy overall – the goal is preppy, not Peleton-esque.”
The quarter-zip or half-zip sweater or sweatshirt is a useful layering piece during the winter months. You can dress it up under a blazer or wear it as a casual layer. This versatile style has been worn by many celebrities including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Martha Stewart.
