Play Dirty (action movie on Prime Video), This new action-thriller movie (helmed by Shane Black) is based on the “Parker” books by Donald E. Westlake, penned under the Richard Stark pseudonym. Here, expert thief Parker (Mark Wahlberg) works alongside Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar) to pull off an epic heist that pits Parker and his skilled crew against the New York mob.

Steve (comedy/drama October 3rd on Netflix), A head teacher at a reform school struggles to keep his students in line while also battling with his own mental health issues. Starring  Cillian Murphy

The Lost Bus (2025 thriller film on Apple TV+ October 3rd), A white-knuckle ride through one of America’s wildfires as a wayward school bus driver and a dedicated school teacher battle to save 22 children from the inferno.

The Balloonist (on Disney+ on October 3rd), sees the life of Gabby (Sallie Harmsen) get turned upside down when an arrogant hot-air balloon pilot crash-lands on top of her coop full of heritage chickens. Things only get more complicated when the pilot moves in next door, forcing Gaby to face long-festering family conflicts and her own problematic past.

Maintenance Required (rom/com on Prime Video October 8th), When a corporate competitor sets up shop across the street from her business, Charlie turns to an anonymous online confidant for comfort … unaware she’s actually confiding in Beau (Jacob Scipio), who just so happens to be the rival that has her worried in the first place.

The Woman in Cabin 10 (thriller on Netflix October 10th), On a lavish yacht for an assignment, a journalist sees a passenger go overboard. But when no one believes her, she risks her life to uncover the truth. Based on the novel by Ruth Ware.

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (2025 ‧ Horror/Thriller on Hulu October 22nd), a remake of the 1992 film, An upscale suburban mom brings a new nanny, Polly Murphy, into her home, only to discover she is not the person she claims to be.

A House of Dynamite (2025 thriller on Netflix on October 24th), When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow

Hedda (drama/romance on Prime Video on October 29th), The new release introduces us to newlywed Hedda (played by Tessa Thompson), who is “outwardly composed but hiding a simmering discontent that threatens to explode when the brilliant and charismatic Eileen Lovberg (Nina Hoss) reenters her life.” What follows is “a ruthless game of manipulation, where lust, jealousy and betrayal collide” (as the streamer’s synopsis puts it).

Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix October 3rd, Monster: The Ed Gein Story is the third season of the American biographical crime drama anthology series Monster, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan for Netflix. This season will focus on convicted serial killer Ed Gein

The Sisters Grimm (animated series on Apple TV+ on October 3rd), based on Michael Buckley’s novel of the same name. Esmeralda Grimm and her half-sister Fancy, are on the final leg of their journey home from Jamaica to the House of Grimm in Somerset.

Boots (drama series on Netflix October 9th), After impulsively joining the U.S. Marine Corps, a bullied teen finds new purpose — and unexpected brotherhood — with his motley team of fellow recruits.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family (crime/drama series on Hulu October 15th), Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and Alex Murdaugh (Jason Clarke) are the couple at the head of an esteemed South Carolina family whose life is turned upside down when their son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) dies in a boat crash. As the investigation continues into Paul’s death and others, the Murdaugh family’s name comes into question, with the fate of their legacy hanging in the balance.

The Last Frontier (drama series premieres on Apple TV+ on October 10th), When a lone U.S. marshal’s jurisdiction is turned upside down after a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates, he begins to suspect the crash was not an accident.

The Chair Company (comedy series premieres on Max on October 12th. New episodes debut weekly leading up to the season finale on 11/30), After an embarrassing incident at work, William Ronald Trosper finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.

It: Welcome to Derry (horror series premieres on Max on October 22, New episodes debut weekly leading up to the season finale on 12/14), following the events in the 1960s, the time leading up to the events of the first film in the Stephen King “It” series.

Harlan Coben’s Lazarus (thriller series, premieres on Prime Video on October 22nd), Here, we meet Joel Lazarus (Sam Claflin), a man who returns home after his father (Bill Nighy) dies by suicide. Joel soon starts having unexplainable, disturbing experiences, and soon becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery not only of his father’s death, but also of his sister’s murder 25 years prior.

DMV (comedy series premieres on CBS, streams on Paramount+ on October 13th), “DMV” is a comedy set in the place everyone dreads going most — the Department of Motor Vehicles — where employees are making minimum wage dealing with customers who are annoyed before they even walk in the door

Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, Season 1 – Premiere (Peacock Original on October 16th),  Chicago-area contractor John Wayne Gacy leads a double-life as a serial killer.

Down Cemetery Road (thriller series premieres on Apple TV+ on October 29th), When a child goes missing in the aftermath of a house explosion, a concerned neighbor teams up with a private investigator to find them; as secrets unravel and a military conspiracy emerges, chaos ensues on South Oxford’s sleepy suburbs.

Documentary

Victoria Beckham (on Netflix October 9th), a three-part documentary series, gives all of us a front row seat as Victoria prepares for the fashion show of her life. From the teenager who restyled her school uniform, to the Spice Girl who fought to be accepted by a notoriously demanding fashion industry, Victoria Beckham is the story of resilience, reinvention and self-discovery.

Saquon (on Prime Video on October 9th), Full length documentary film produced by Martin Scorsese chronicles Saquon Barkley’s journey to Super Bowl glory with the Philadelphia Eagles.

John Candy I Like Me (on Prime Video on October 10th), from director Colin Hanks, this documentary features never-before seen footage, and interviews of those who knew him best, including Dan Aykroyd, Mel Brooks, and Steve Martin.

The Alabama Solution (2025 documentary film on Max October 10th), about the prison system in Alabama but from the perspective of incarcerated inmates. 

Armed Only With A Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud (film on Max October 22nd), This 37-minute documentary is about Brent Renaud, the first American journalist killed in Ukraine

Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost (documentary film, October 24th on Apple TV+) Ben Stiller tells the story of his parents, comedy icons Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, exploring their impact both on popular culture and at home, where the lines between creativity, family, life and art often blurred.

Reality and Award Shows

Love Is Blind: Season 9 (on Netflix October 1st)

A Salute to Cyndy Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl on Paramount+ on October 5th.

Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars (reality on Apple TV+ on October 10th), The eight-part series, hosted by Jesse Burgess, food expert and co-founder of the global food and travel platform Topjaw, takes viewers inside the emotionally charged, high-stakes world of fine dining — capturing the pressure and ambition that define the road to Michelin recognition.
