Golden Globes

I need to talk about the dresses worn to Golden Globes award show on Sunday Jan. 15, 2012. Overall I loved most of the dresses. My favorite looks were: Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, and Kate Beckinsale. I liked the red accents on Angelina’s outfit, the purse, the dress, and the lips. She selected a draped ivory Atelier Versace gown (one-shoulder) with contrasting blood-red accents, including a Christian Louboutin clutch. She finishes the look with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.  Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren had sparkly belts that I loved with their overall look. Kate Winslet was wearing:  a hammered-silk belted Jenny Packham gown with Roger Vivier sandals and jewelry and an evening bag by Fred Leighton. Helen Mirren wore a close-fitting Badgley Mischka gown. Kate Beckinsale wore a popular look : the tight dress on top with a flowing train/bottom. Other people who looked hot in that look: Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara, Elle MacPherson, and Paula Patton.

Charlize Theron made some best dressed lists. She chose a plunging blush Dior Haute Couture gown and vintage Cartier gems. I liked Claire Danes and Zooey Deschanel’s dresses. Claire Danes chose a black-and-white J. Mendel gown with embellished details and a bare back, plus bold red lips and a Tiffany & Co. clutch. Zooey wore fluorescent beaded Prada halter, accented with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and tuxedo-painted nails. I also like Emma Stone’s look: a plunging eggplant gown with contrasting red accents, a dramatic belt and crystal-studded heels – all by Lanvin – topped off with a Cartier clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels
