When: Saturday January 12, 2014
Where: Showcase cinemas
This past Saturday was a rainy day perfect for going to the movies. I love going to the movies. I can ignore my list of things to do for a couple of hours. I buy my snacks and settle in to watch the movie on the big screen with surround sound. I enjoy all types of movies and getting lost in a new adventure or love story.
January is a good month to catch up on award nominated movies. The Golden Globes aired this past Sunday January 13, 2014. I love watching award shows; I enjoy seeing what everyone is wearing and I also enjoy trying to predict the winners. I wanted to see a couple of nominated movies this weekend before the show. On Saturday I saw August Osage County and on Sunday I saw Gravity. Here is the nominee list: http://www.goldenglobes.com/nominees
The other nominated movies I’ve seen are: 12 years as a Slave, American Hustle, and Blue Jasmine. I would eventually like to see more of the nominated movies. A lot of the movies nominated for Golden Globes also get nominated for an Academy Award so it is also fun to predict the winners of those awards. The nominees for the Academy Awards will be announced January 16, 2014. The Academy Award show will air on March 2nd. The performances I have seen in the nominated movies are incredible. A lot of big name stars were nominated this year for exellent performances. I am in awe of the talent of some of these celebrities. Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, and Cate Blanchett earned their nominations.
The Golden Globes also feature television shows. I have watched several of the nominated shows. Some of my favorites are: Orange in the New Black, Scandal, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Downton Abbey, and The Good Wife. The actors and other nominees sit at tables enjoying drinks and food while they wait to see if they are winners. It is fun to watch the television actors mingle with those actors in the movies. Sometimes an actor is nominated in both categories like Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Watching this show is also entertaining thanks to the hilarious hosts, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who provided us with funny jokes and digs at celebrities. I love watching television and movies and I enjoy seeing my favorite actors receive recognition for their work.
As a fashionista, my favorite part of the awards show is checking out what everyone is wearing. Everyone looked glamorous with their beautiful hair styles and jewelry.
My favorite dresses of the evening are:
Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren
Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta
