Three: What to wear
Carry a capacious bag (aka large tote):
From Fashionista, SEARCHES FOR THAT LUDICROUSLY CAPACIOUS BURBERRY BAG SPIKED AFTER ‘SUCCESSION’ PREMIERE. What was the problem with this tote? One of the characters in Succession had things to say. Tom calls her tartan Burberry tote bag “ludicrously capacious.” He continues to trash the bag, “What’s even in there? Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? I mean, Greg, it’s monstrous,” he says. “It’s gargantuan. You can take it camping. You could slide it across the floor after a bank job.”

Ignore Succession trash talk about the tote. Vogue named it as one of its essentials for a spring capsule wardrobe. “When it comes to handbags, 2023 is the year of the tote bag. With offerings from DeMellier, Dragon Diffusion, and Cuyana, you’ll be in on the trend in total style, whether you’re commuting to and from the office or packing up for a weekend getaway.” 10+ Essentials for the Chicest Spring Capsule Wardrobe. Vogue also wrote in February 2023 Is the Year of the Chic Tote Bag.
In 2022 the New York Times wrote, The 6 Best Tote Bags to Match Any Style. “If I was Sarah Snook on Succession, I would have this bag,” said Wirecutter’s Anna Perling during testing. She was contemplating the $250 Leatherology Belmont Structured Tote while referring to the impossibly chic-yet-corporate wardrobe of character Shiv Roy on HBO’s satirical comedy-drama about the owners of a global media empire.
Sarah Snook would not have worn it to a birthday party if she owned such a tote bag. Use your totes for daily activities but don’t bring one to a fancy party. (According to Succession characters and fans of that brutal scene from episode 1)
My favorite tote for spring and summer is the L.L. Bean Tote:
