Do you love to read? Visit new bookstores? I have an Instagram handle for you to follow. This account is about books, writers, book clubs, and book events. Follow me: @smarchesebooks

I will be posting about new book releases and writers I follow.
The Books
A person’s reading style is similar to a person’s fashion style; you might not like the same styles as other people. Here is a little background into the type of books I tend to read. I read mostly fiction books, mysteries, thrillers, women’s fiction, historical, literary fiction, some romance, and fantasy. I have read young adult novels, including the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Games series, and the Divergent series.

I enjoy a good story. I want to get lost in the story when I read a book. A good story will keep me up late at night to get to the end. I like characters I want to root for, even if they are slightly flawed.

I will post about books I’ve enjoyed reading on my Instagram account. These are books I rated four stars plus on Goodreads. I’m not going to post about books I didn’t love. There are books I didn’t love that continue to be on best-seller lists; I’m happy for those authors and the readers who enjoyed the books.
What I’m reading:
I wrote about summer reading on June 2nd. https://lifestyleofafashionista.com/2023/06/02/summer-reading/
My post included books in my TBR (To-Be-Read) pile and some of my favorite reads. I’ve since added more books to my TBR pile and read some new fun reads.
I use Goodreads to keep track of the books I’ve read, see books my friends are reading, and track the books I want to read. I have created shelves to organize the books in my to-be-read pile. These shelves help me when shopping for books, so I don’t buy a book I have at home or on my Kindle. I enjoy looking at what my friends are reading.

BiblioLifestyle wrote about the 5 Best Book Tracking Apps for Readers. Victoria does a great job of detailing the types of book tracking apps available.
If you’d rather not use the Goodreads read, The Best Book Tracking Apps in 2023 (the year we all ditch Goodreads)
Bookstores and Events
I try to buy my books from independent bookstores if possible. I wrote a post about shopping at these stores: https://lifestyleofafashionista.com/2023/04/28/independent-bookstores/
You can support bookstores by attending events. It’s fun to meet the authors in person.
You can also attend online events. I’ve attended several writing events and added many books to my TBR pile.
I attended a book signing event at Wellesley Book in June. I met T. J. Newman, the former bookseller and flight attendant turned best-selling author who was promoting her second book, Drowning.

T.J. was interviewed by USA Today bestselling author Hank Phillipi Ryan. I read a few of her books, including her latest, The House Guest.

I will post about book events in person and online and share book recommendations from these events.
Book Clubs
I’ve read several books from Reese Witherspoon’s book club list. Some of these books have been made into a movie or series.

I also have read Jenna’s picks and Oprah’s picks.
I will share the book club picks on Instagram.
