Volume 5: Issue 6: June 2026
“This is June, the month of grass and leaves . . . already the aspens are trembling again, and a new summer is offered me.” ―Henry David Thoreau
Get Ready for Summer
I just learned that there are two days considered the first day of summer. As a former earth science teacher, I consider the first day of summer to be on the summer solstice, June 21, 2026. But, there is also a meteorological summer defined as June 1st – August 31st. Either way, June is the beginning of summer. Days are longer and warmer, school vacation starts, and the summer clothes have come out of storage.
