“People waste their time pondering whether a glass is half empty or half full. Me, I just drink whatever’s in the glass.” — Sophia from The Golden Girls
One: Fancy Grandmother and Coastal Chic
Fancy Grandmother:

The coastal grandmother trend is primarily about wearing neutral colors, but if you prefer to add bright colors, animal prints, and shiny pieces, the “fancy grandmother” trend might be for you.
From InStyle If the Coastal Grandma Trend Isn’t for You, How About Its Alternative, Fancy Grandma? “While Coastal Grandma style icons are Oprah and Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give, Fancy Grandma style leans more toward the cast of The Golden Girls and Yetta from The Nanny. In many ways, Coastal Grandma comes with the pressure of having it all together, being organized, cooking dinner every night, and reading the best books while chilling on the beach and never dirtying your entirely white (or beige) home. Fancy Grandmas, on the other hand, are eccentric. They have tchotchkes, stockpile snacks, and religiously watch a TV show they call “my show.” They always smell really good because they love all kinds of scents, and they also can’t resist shopping for a good deal. They like to get dressed up, but at the same time, keep their outfits on the practical side, usually with matching sets (think Mother of the Bride) and an elaborate pair of earrings.”
Coastal Chic/Resort Wear: a spin-off of coastal grandmother and fancy grandmother.
For women: outfits would include caftans, fancy cover-ups, robes, giant hats, big pieces of jewelry, and heeled sandals dominate this trend.

For men: outfits would include Hawaiian shirts, polo shirts, t-shirts, slides, boat shoes, slip-on sneakers, sun hats, and shorts.

Two: What to watch
Netflix:
Movie: Senior Year, Rebel Wilson. “A cheerleading stunt gone wrong landed her in a 20-year coma. Now she’s 37, newly awake and ready to live out her high school dream: becoming prom queen.” from Netflix.
New series: Lincoln Lawyer – legal drama without Matthew McConaughey. “An iconoclastic idealist runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car in this series based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels.” from IMDb.
Documentary: Our Father. “After a woman’s at-home DNA test reveals multiple half-siblings, she discovers a shocking scheme involving donor sperm and a popular fertility doctor.” There has been a lot of buzz about this documentary, but it does sound like an upsetting topic.
Hulu: Conversations with Friends. “Thanks to the critical success of Normal People, Sally Rooney’s Conversations With Friends, an exploration of personal and romantic dynamics among Frances (Alison Oliver), a student; her best friend, Bobbi (Sasha Lane); and a married couple (Jemima Kirke and Joe Alwyn), is getting the same treatment. Director Lenny Abrahamson and co-writer Alice Birch, who worked on Normal People, are on board here, too.” —Jen Chaney.

HBOmax: Hacks, season 2. Starts on May 12 and ends on June 2, 2022. Here is a review from Vogue last year of season 1: https://www.vogue.com/article/hacks-hbo-max-jean-smart-review. Jean Smart won an Emmy for her performance.
Prime Video (Amazon):
The Kids in the Hall: “More than 25 years after it went off the air, the Canadian sketch-comedy series is being revived for the streaming world. Yes, all the original Kids — now very much no longer kids — are back: Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin MacDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson.” —J.C.
In Theaters:
Firestarter (also streaming on Peacock this weekend), “In a new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic thriller from the producers of The Invisible Man, a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers fights to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her.” starring Zac Efron
Family Camp, “When their pastor encourages the congregation to sign-up for a week away at family camp, Grace believes she’s found the perfect cure for her imperfect clan—even if they’d all rather be anywhere but at rustic Camp Katokwah. The first feature film from The Skit Guys, FAMILY CAMP is a laugh-out-loud comedy that will touch the hearts and tickle the funny bones of every family member from eight to eighty.”
