Saturday Street Style: NYC

Saturday Street Style NYC

When: Saturday January 30, 2016

Where: New York, New York

One of the things I love about living in Boston is that I can easily travel to New Jersey to visit my family. I always enjoy visiting my family, we have a lot of fun traditions. Here are some posts I’ve written about NYC and family visits: NYC theater Fashion Week , NYC marathon, and a family celebration weekend.

My cousin Daniel’s birthday is in February so I traveled to NJ for the weekend to celebrate. On Saturday we went into New York City to see a show.

Going into the weekend I didn’t know we were going to a show. The tickets were purchased last minute. So when I packed for the weekend I brought mostly casual clothes thinking we weren’t going into the city. At the last minute I decided to pack a plaid dress and tights just in case. I’m glad I did! The only problem was the shoes I packed. I brought Uggs and a pair of tan boots. My dress was a dark plaid and I had black tights. I wasn’t sure if that would go with light boots and I didn’t want to wear my Uggs into the city. I could have worn jeans but I like to dress up a little when we go to a Broadway show. I tried on the dress with tights and tan boots and was happy with the result. It is nice to try a different look and break traditional thoughts about outfit pairings.

Here is the outfit:

The dress is from ASOS, tights from Primark, and the boots are Nine West.

We had a really nice trip into the city. We had lunch (with delicious Bloody Marys) at the Mariott Hotel, and saw King Charles III during the last weekend of the show. It was a very interesting and thought-provoking show about the royal family. I thought the actors all performed really well and looked like the family members they portrayed.

Here are some pictures from the day:
