One: Summer Fitness
Summer brings warmer temperatures and longer days; these two things should get us outside for some summer activities. Last week I wrote about yoga and taking an outdoor yoga class, but if you’re not into yoga, you can find another outdoor class or activity to enjoy.
There are many levels to summer fitness; find activities you enjoy at a comfortable level.

Two: What to watch
The Sea Beast – (animated movie): When a young girl stows away on the ship of a legendary sea monster hunter, they launch an epic journey into uncharted waters – and make history to boot.
Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between – (movie): After making a pact to break up before college, Claire and Aidan retrace the steps of their relationship on one last epic date, revisiting familiar and unexpected places as they question: stay together or say goodbye forever?
Boo Bitch – (Series) From IMDb: Two senior BFFs make a last-ditch attempt to be seen. But when one of them becomes a ghost, she’ll need to really live her best life – while she can.
Girl in the Picture – (Documentary) A young mother’s mysterious death and her son’s subsequent kidnapping blow open a decades-long mystery about the woman’s true identity and the murderous federal fugitive at the center of it all.
How to Build a Sex Room – (reality series): Couples looking for more spice in the bedroom hire luxury interior designer Melanie Rose to create stylish spaces where they can carry out any fantasy they wish.
House of Gucci
Maggie – (series): A young woman tries to cope with life while coming to terms with her abilities as a psychic. She can see everyone’s futures, but her present is a mess.
The Bob’s Burger Movie – (On Hulu and HBOmax on July 12th) The Belchers try to save the restaurant from closing as a sinkhole forms in front of it, while the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant.
Miss S – (series) Expect lots of jaunty fun and fabulous fashions in this exciting new adaptation of Australia’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, that follows the unlikely detective duo Miss S and Inspector Luo Qiuheng.
The Anarchists, a limited documentary series premiere (on July 10th)
Visitors – After a mysterious explosion rocks the town of Pointe-Claire, rookie cop Richard Garcia and his ragtag group of friends find themselves entangled in an all-out war between rival alien factions.
Black Bird – “stars Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Rocketman) as a convicted drug dealer who’s given an opportunity to avoid prison time — but it’ll involve him being sent to a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane, befriending a suspected serial killer (creepily played by Paul Walter Hauser) and getting a confession out of him. The six-episode psychological thriller is based on a true story, was developed by acclaimed crime novelist Dennis Lehane, and also features the late Ray Liotta in his last TV performance. This seems right up the alley of viewers who are fans of Netflix’s late, great Mindhunter.“
Thor: Love and Thunder – From IMDb: Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who — to his surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance.
Three: What to wear
Women: bodysuit or workout dress
The bodysuit: The Surprising ’80s Workout Trend I’ll Be Wearing All Summer
The workout dress:
From People: “The sporty and functional workout dress is made out of a nylon-spandex blend that’s soft to the touch and moves with you as you play tennis, go for a run, or lounge poolside.“
Men: summer shorts
The Shorts of Summer ’22 Have Finally Arrived, “Fair warning: At a healthy three inches, the Essentials silhouette is shorter than the five-inch industry standard. If that scares you, good. A five-inch inseam is always a safe bet, but great fits favor the bold, not the safe. And as our Golden Rule of Shorts stipulates: right now, shorts should be either about two inches shorter or four inches longer than you’re used to.”
If you are nervous about wearing short shorts, remember when Milo Ventimiglia set the Internet on fire with his gym attire.
“Gym shorts, indeed, come in a variety sizes, usually running between four and ten inches. But it is the longer styles that are standard; most fellas like to let things hang. Which is perhaps why Ventimiglia’s fit was a viral sensation. He showed that short shorts are a viable option. They may not be the most demure choice, but they are certainly worthy of consideration.“
Four: What to Try
New Ways to Stay Hydrated:
10 Super-Hydrating Drinks That Are Way More Interesting Than a Glass of Water
With Electrolytes: In food and in water
Why should you add electrolytes? From the National Library of Medicine:
“Electrolytes are minerals in your body that have an electric charge. They are in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids. Electrolytes are important because they help:
- Balance the amount of water in your body
- Balance your body’s acid/base (pH) level
- Move nutrients into your cells
- Move wastes out of your cells
- Make sure that your nerves, muscles, the heart, and the brain work the way they should
Sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium are all electrolytes. You get them from the foods you eat and the fluids you drink.“
How to Add Electrolytes to Water – “Some foods, such as citrus fruits, are naturally rich in electrolytes and can be mixed with water.“
Electrolyte powder is widely available. One popular product: LiquidIV (product review)
